HKUST ranked No 3 university in Asia, ahead of HKU
Total of four Hong Kong universities made it to top 10 in regional rankings, though Singapore institutions took first and second place
Four Hong Kong universities have been listed among the top 10 institutions in Asia in the latest regional version of the QS World University Rankings, released on Tuesday.
And for the first time since 2013, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has overtaken the University of Hong Kong as the city’s premier institution.
The top position in the region was occupied by a Singaporean university for the fifth consecutive year. The remaining top 10 schools comprised one more institution from Singapore, three from China and one from South Korea.
Hong Kong universities get high rankings in law and education despite political controversies
Unlike the world version, the Asia rankings also look at the number of research papers produced, the number of staff with PhDs and the number of inbound and outbound exchange students at these institutions.
