Hong Kong schools allow students to partially return as city sees drop in Covid-19 infections
- Wednesday marked the first time that some teachers and students met face to face since the new school year started
- Schools may arrange for make-up classes, orientation for no more than one-sixth of student population at any one time

Some Hong Kong students were allowed to partially return to campus for limited face-to-face activities on Wednesday – the first time since the new school year began – following a drop in Covid-19 infections.
Make-up classes or orientation can be arranged for no more than one-sixth of the total school population at any one time, while the duration of activities should not exceed half a day with infection-control and social-distancing measures in place.
However, at one primary school in Tuen Mun, initial plans of letting some students back on campus on Wednesday were suspended after a 10-year-old pupil tested positive for the coronavirus. The child last visited the school on Friday.

Most local schools began their new academic year online from September 1, but many international ones and kindergartens started as early as August.
Under the Education Bureau’s two-phase class resumption plan, Primary Five, Primary Six, Form Five and Form Six, as well as those starting their first year at primary or secondary school or in the final year in kindergarten could resume half-day classes from September 23.
