Coronavirus: students ‘excited’ to be back on campus for full-day, in-person classes after school hits vaccination target

Form Six students from the first secondary school in Hong Kong to resume full-day in-person classes in more than a year have said they are excited to resume their preparation for the university entrance exam.

Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) in Kwun Tong was allowed to resume full-day lessons on Monday for its Form Six pupils after 74 per cent of them had received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

Principal Lam Yim-ling was optimistic about hitting the required 70 per cent threshold for the entire school of 1,100 students by the end of September or early October.

It is among five secondary schools allowed to resume full-day classes after they had hit the vaccination target in certain grades. More than 92 per cent of teaching staff across all schools had received at least one vaccine dose by last Friday, according to the Education Bureau.

Students welcomed the return, saying the environment on campus was more conducive for learning.
