Hong Kong schools pledge to stay alert, terminate contracts, vet speeches in safeguarding national security on campus
- Schools submit reports after education authorities request details on measures taken and plans in place
- Elite King’s College will terminate services of external service providers promoting political messages

Hong Kong schools have sent education authorities details of the ways they safeguard national security and teach related subjects, including putting staff on alert for any wrongdoing, even by visiting speakers or external trainers.

The Post checked about 100 reports submitted by schools after education authorities asked them to spell out specific measures taken over the school year, and describe plans for the current academic cycle.
All primary and secondary schools have to submit a report every November.
King’s College, a 97-year-old elite government boys’ school, said in its report that external service providers must sign a contract stating that the activities offered would not contain any political propaganda or endanger national security.

It added a new clause in the contract, stating: “If the relevant person is involved in misconduct, the service provider must make follow-up arrangements to replace the relevant personnel.
