Hong Kong suspends school in DSE row linked to Shenzhen-based tutorial centre
Education Bureau says behaviour of Tsung Tsin Middle School’s managers has been deemed ‘unsatisfactory’

Hong Kong education authorities have suspended the operations of a private secondary school after a Shenzhen-based tutorial centre was accused of offering the city’s university entrance examination curriculum at the institution without registration.
But the tutorial centre, Capture Star, denied the allegation, saying that it had only acted as an agent to recruit students for Tsung Tsin Middle School.
The Education Bureau said on Friday that permanent secretary May Chan Wing-shiu considered the behaviour of the school’s managers to be “unsatisfactory” and had suspended Tsung Tsin’s operations.
It said that the bureau had been monitoring the development of multiple civil litigation cases in which the Tsung Tsin Association, the sponsoring body of the school, was involved regarding its management rights.
A source said that the bureau had sent a letter to all school managers about the decision on Friday, adding that the prolonged legal disputes involving the school management meant that the supervisor and the principal were denied access to the campus in Cheung Sha Wan.
The source added that no management meeting could even be held. No student is currently studying at the school.
