Passengers escape injury as truck with steel rods hits bus in Hong Kong
No one hurt after construction truck rams into back of airport-bound bus E23 on North Lantau Highway, sending rebar through its rear windows

Passengers on a double-decker bus bound for Hong Kong’s airport have escaped injury after a truck laden with steel bars rammed into it, with some rods piercing the upper deck’s rear windows.
Bus E23 decelerated on North Lantau Highway due to slowing traffic ahead and was rear-ended by the construction truck at around 9am on Monday, a spokeswoman for Citybus said.
“The truck was suspected to have failed to brake in time, causing a traffic accident. Some of the steel bars from the construction truck damaged the rear and the windows of the bus. Neither the driver nor the passengers were injured in the incident,” she said.

The spokeswoman added that Citybus would cooperate with police to determine the cause of the accident.
Pictures circulating online showed bundles of steel bars had shattered the upper deck’s rear windows.
