Rain has brought some relief to Hong Kong after a scorching weekend, with cooler temperatures and cloudy skies expected to continue to cover the city over the next few days.
Temperatures could drop to as low as 26 degrees Celsius by Friday, more than 10 degrees lower than Saturday’s record-breaking 37.8 degrees, Hong Kong’s hottest day since 1885.
Isolated rain and thunderstorms were expected over the coming days in Hong Kong, where four trees collapsed this morning following heavy showers that started last night.

Hong Kong Observatory forecaster Christy Leung said a trough caused by typhoon Soudelor would continue to bring unstable weather and cooler temperatures to the city.

“We are expecting the trough will still affect us tomorrow so there will be a few showers and isolated thunderstorms in the morning,” she said.
