Brrr! Hong Kong Observatory predicts ‘significant drop’ in temperatures next week as monsoon heads for China
A scientific officer said 18-degree recordings would be city’s lowest since February

It might not be winter yet, but Hongkongers should start breaking out their scarves and coats next week as temperatures are forecast to drop to a nine-month low.
Hong Kong Observatory scientific officer Ho Chun-kit said he expected temperatures to drop to as low as 18 degrees Celsius by Thursday next week, the lowest in the city since February, this after an unusually warm November.
‘We expect there will be an intense northeast monsoon which will reach China sometime towards the end of next week,” he said.

“It will lead to a significant drop in temperatures towards the end of next week.”
Ho said monsoon activity would become more common during the city’s winter months, leading to chilly weather throughout December and January.
Thursday’s change would be the coldest temperatures to hit Hong Kong since February 28, when temperatures dropped to 16.7 degrees.
The change was expected to come just a few days before the end of November, which to date has been several degrees warmer than average.
