Going up: Running 82 floors in 11 minutes for Hong Kong’s Vertical Run for Charity

Competitors in Hong Kong’s steepest running race turn out to the ICC for the annual Vertical Run for Charity.

Over 1,600 people turned out to compete in the 2015 SHKP Vertical Run for Charity in the ICC building in West Kowloon yesterday, running up 2,120 steps and 82 floors as part of an annual race to the top.

The Vertical run for Charity is part of a worldwide circuit encompassing New York, London, Taipei, Paris, Sydney, Beijing and Shanghai in which competitors race against the clock and against each other to see who is the fastest to run up a staircase to the top of a building.

Begun in 2009, this was the fourth Vertical Run to be held in Hong Kong, and forms the last round of the worldwide circuit.

The overall winner of the eight races this year us Polish runner Piotr Lobodzinski, who was awarded a special trophy after his run in Hong Kong.
