A website selling coupons was the toast of social media on Monday, for telling staff they didn’t need to go to work in the cold weather. The company Group Buyer announced to its employees on its Facebook page late on Sunday that they did not need to go to work the next day because of the chilly weather, except those with appointments with clients. “Put on more clothes and take care of your health. It has an office in Tsim Sha Tsui. The message, posted late on Sunday, attracted more than 9,500 likes and 1,300 shares on Facebook, with many praising the employer as a good boss. “Such a good boss! Do you hire fresh graduates?” asked one user, Kathy Lau. The Labour Department for the third consecutive day issued a reminder to employers and employees on working during the cold weather. In the department’s guide to occupational health, employers are asked to take precautions during the cold weather, such as rescheduling outdoor work or work in remote areas to warmer periods in the daytime if practical. They are also advised to tell employees to be alert to their health condition and provide hot drinks.
