A hospital is investigating how a 24-day-old baby girl fell out of an incubator earlier­ this month – and was later found ­to have suffered a brain haemorrhage.

Kwong Wah Hospital, in Yau Ma Tei, revealed yesterday that the newborn, who was in the Special Baby Care Unit at the time, also developed erythema – redness of skin – on the head, neck and back, but that she was in a stable condition.

A spokesman for the hospital said an investigation panel of multidisciplinary experts had been formed and would submit a report in eight weeks.

The infant was first admitted to Kwong Wah suffering from a respiratory problem.

On the afternoon of May 6, she was in an incubator for observation by a nurse, who confirmed it was properly closed, according to the hospital.
