Firefighters say scene inside still-burning industrial building is ‘very unique’
Some photos showed water-damaged floors following firefighters’ efforts to battle the blaze and keep room temperatures down.
Charred walls and destroyed metal sheets can be found throughout the building, firefighters said.
A few described the scene as “very unique”.
One firefighter said the industrial building was divided into some 200 cubicles, each separated by metal sheets. “The doors of many cubicles still haven’t been knocked down,” he said.
Temperatures inside the building were as high as “a few hundred degrees Celsius”, another said.
“Some of the electric wires were burned and fell, causing our colleagues to trip over them,” he added. “It’s an unimaginable scene. It’s very bad inside.”
The blaze started at around 11am on Tuesday and was upgraded to a fourth-alarm fire a few hours later. It claimed the lives of firefighter Thomas Cheung, 30, on Tuesday, and Samuel Hui Chi-kit, 37, on Thursday.
