Cool respite for Hong Kong, but hot weather to return on weekend
Skies over city will be cloudy with occasional rain for Thursday
After days of hot weather, Hongkongers finally caught a break with cooler temperatures and occasional showers forecast for Thursday.
While the city can expect cloudy weather and rain with temperatures between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius, the Observatory warned that the searing heat would return by the weekend.
Earlier in the day, the red rainstorm warning signal was in force with schools suspending classes.
The amber signal was first issued at 5.05am, and later upgraded to a red signal at 5.30am.
The signal was downgraded to an amber warning at 7.05am.
By 7.45am, all rainstorm warnings had been cancelled.
