Hong Kong weather set to get colder for New Year’s Eve, temperatures as low as 11 degrees

Hongkongers will need to break out the scarves and hats if they head out to celebrate the new year on Monday night, with a cold and windy few days on the way, according to forecasters.
New Year’s Eve was set to be as cold as 11 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 15 degrees, according to the Observatory.
Cloudy skies were forecast for Friday night, along with a cold turn on Saturday, when temperatures will range from 12 to 16 degrees in urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Forecasters said there would be bright periods and moderate north-to-northeasterly winds, which would be occasionally strong offshore and on high ground.
And the cold weather was set to persist, with strong winds over the weekend and a few rainy patches from Monday to Wednesday, the Observatory said.
It said temperatures would be as low as 11 degrees with a maximum of 14 degrees on Tuesday, the first day of 2019.
