Hong Kong Observatory issues first cold weather warning of 2020 amid northeast monsoon affecting southern China
- Temperatures will range between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius in daytime, observatory says
- The nip in the air will last until Wednesday
The Hong Kong Observatory on Sunday raised the first cold weather warning of 2020, amid a short period of chilly weather set to last until the middle of next week.
A northeast monsoon affecting southern China region was responsible for the nip in the air, the observatory said.
Hong Kong has recorded a warmer and drier winter season so far this time.
“Under the influence of a continental airstream, the weather will be generally fine over southern China in the middle and latter parts of this week,” the observatory said on its website.
“It will remain rather cool in the morning, while temperature differences between day and night over inland areas will be relatively large. An easterly airstream is expected to affect the coast of Guangdong during the weekend to early next week.”
