Hong Kong recorded no new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, according to a government source. The city’s tally of infections remains at 1,052, with four related deaths.
The Centre for Health Protection is not holding its daily coronavirus press conference today.
The emergence of three locally transmitted cases this week – breaking a streak of 23 days without such infections – has raised concerns over the situation in Hong Kong, with hundreds of households to be screened in a bid to tackle a potential new community cluster.
Health authorities were also ramping up testing to cover hundreds of workers at the airport as the city reported a new imported case on Wednesday.
Hong Kong’s social-distancing measures – which include a limit of eight people per table in restaurants; a distance of at least 1.5 metres or a physical partition between tables; and halved capacity in cinemas – are set to expire on May 21.
