Coronavirus: some Hong Kong hospitals to resume visiting hours for family members next week, as city records no new Covid-19 cases
- Officials to allow visits at facilities that provide rehabilitation services
- Patients will be able to see one family member for an hour under certain conditions

Patients in Hong Kong hospitals that provide rehabilitation services will be able to see family members from June 17, four months after visiting was stopped because of the coronavirus, as the city recorded no new local Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.
The announcement from the health authorities came after city leader Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor in a Tuesday night Facebook post said the government would consider relaxing social-distancing measures, which included a ban on public gatherings of more than eight people, along with a gradual relaxation of immigration controls and the 14-day quarantine rule for those entering Hong Kong from abroad.
But she added they would be relaxed only if the infection risks were controllable.

“Over the past few months we have gained a better understanding of the Covid-19 virus, and expert advisers have said the situation will continue for quite some time,” Dr Ian Cheung, the Hospital Authority’s chief manager for cluster performance, said on a radio show on Wednesday. “But as the local situation is quite stable, we hope we can resume some visiting arrangements.”

The total number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong was 1,107 as of Wednesday, and there have been no locally transmitted cases for the past six days. It was also the second day in a row when the city saw no imported cases.
