Coronavirus: 2 who tested positive after Kyrgyzstan trip were in city during incubation period, health authorities say
- They were among eight new Covid-19 cases classified as imported on Sunday, with others hailing from Britain, the Philippines and the United States
- The duo, aged 60 and 43, tested negative before departure on August 20 – within the 21-day incubation period counted from the time of detection

The pair, a 60-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, tested positive on arrival after returning from Kyrgyzstan on Friday via Cathay Pacific flight 654.
They carried the L452R mutation, which is linked to several coronavirus variants, including the Delta one.
The duo, who flew to the Central Asian country on August 20, both tested negative in Hong Kong on the day of departure. Their departure and return dates fell within the 21-day incubation period, which is based on the day of detection.
Health authorities said the man primarily worked from his home in Mid-Levels’ Valiant Park on Conduit Road during what was thought to be his incubation period. The woman worked in the Casey Building on Lok Fu Road in Sheung Wan. She lives at Block 6, Peak One, 63 Mei Tin Road in Tai Wai.
Locations known to have been visited by the two during that time include Wolfgang’s Steakhouse in Central and the hair salon QB House in Sheung Wan, both of which have been issued compulsory testing notices.
