Olympian Shek Wai-hung and two other teammates deemed close contacts were sent to the government quarantine site at Penny’s Bay for two weeks, while coach Sergiy Agafontsev was isolating in Ukraine, the Hong Kong Sports Institute said on Wednesday.

The three gymnasts arrived on Tuesday and did not show any symptoms. The coach, as the institute understood, was also asymptomatic.

All four were fully inoculated before leaving for training in Poland. They then took part in October’s World Championships in Japan and headed to a training camp in Ukraine.

The institute said it would closely monitor the situation.

The incident is not expected to affect the athletes’ training as they had already set aside time for hotel quarantining upon returning to Hong Kong.
