Weather expected to settle next week after Tropical Storm Nalgae brings rain and high winds, Observatory says
- All Nalgae weather warnings cancelled by Observatory at 6.20am on Thursday, but weather still cloudy with showers
- Weather expected to ease from Friday, with sunny intervals and occasional showers, forecasters say

Hong Kong was on Thursday told to expect showers with sunny intervals over the next few days after Tropical Storm Nalgae brought the city’s third November No 8 typhoon signal in history, but forecasters said the weather would become fine early next week.
Nalgae, which means “wings” in Korean, brought a 15-hour No 8 typhoon alert from 1.40pm on Wednesday to 5.40am on Thursday, when the signal was downgraded to No 3.
All weather warnings by the Hong Kong Observatory were cancelled at 6.20am on Thursday.
The city remained cloudy with a few showers, but the forecaster said the weather would ease from Friday, with sunny intervals and one or two showers, before becoming fine early next week.
Nalgae was only the third typhoon in history to have generated a No 8 signal or higher in November. A No 9 signal was issued in 1954 and a No 8 alert in 1972 - both to typhoons named Pamela. But Hong Kong has seen 13 November storms that triggered alerts of No 1 or higher since 1946.
