A cold front moving down from mainland China will cause temperatures in Hong Kong to drop by nine degrees from Saturday evening and further on Sunday, the city’s forecaster has said.
The Observatory forecast that temperatures in urban areas would drop from 22 degrees Celsius (71.6 Fahrenheit) to a minimum of 13 degrees overnight on Saturday amid foggy weather and rain patches. In the New Territories, it could reach 11 or 12 degrees.

The cold front is expected to move across the Guangdong coast in the early hours of Sunday. The forecaster has also warned that it will become windy, as light northerly winds strengthen. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 22 degrees.
“We expect the coldest days next week to be Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures beginning to go up again from Wednesday or Thursday to around 12 to 14 degrees,” said Johnny Cheung Kai-chun, a scientific officer with the Observatory.
The Observatory also said it expected the minimum temperature next Monday and Tuesday to be 11 degrees, while the mercury would rise from Wednesday to a minimum of 12 degrees and 14 degrees on Thursday.
