The Hong Kong Observatory issued a cold weather warning on Thursday over expected minimum temperatures of as low as 12 degrees Celsius (53.6 Fahrenheit) in the next few days.
Members of the public should brace themselves for chillier conditions, the Observatory said as it issued the cold weather warning at 4.20pm.
The forecaster recorded a maximum temperature of 22 degrees during the day, with the mercury dropping to 15 degrees at its lowest.

The temperature stood at 16.3 degrees at 4.50pm with a relative humidity of 85 per cent.
The Observatory’s nine-day forecast showed that conditions on Friday and Saturday would be chilly, especially in the morning, under the influence of a northeast monsoon and a broad band of rain and clouds.
It added that minimum temperatures in urban areas on the two days were expected to reach about 12 degrees, with the New Territories expected to have even cooler weather.
“The weather will be cold with a few rain patches over the coast of southern China in the next couple of days,” a spokesman said.
The low temperatures are expected to give way to warmer conditions after the weekend, before the cold returns in the middle and latter parts of next week.
The Social Welfare Department reminded the elderly to take precautions while the warning was in force.
The Labour Department also appealed to employers to take appropriate action to protect staff, especially people who worked outdoors or in remote areas.
