Hong Kong’s Peak Tram has resumed service after being suspended for three days because of trees that had fallen near its tracks during heavy rain.
The Peak Tram Company said on Wednesday morning that services would reopen to the public, as it expressed gratitude to government departments and its own engineering team for their efforts to clear fallen tree trunks and carry out inspections overnight.
“With the comprehensive inspections carried out by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the Peak Tram has resumed service today,” the operator said in a Facebook post.
Trams began running again between The Peak and the terminus in Central at 7.30am on Wednesday.

The company halted trips on Sunday when strong winds and heavy rain toppled several trees near the Barker Road stop.
It said on Tuesday that it aimed to clear most of the trunks during the day so inspections could take place in the evening to test the full functionality of its systems.
The service suspension had disappointed some tourists, with several seeking refunds for their tickets.
