Showers, squally thunderstorms to linger in Hong Kong before weather improves later in week
- It will be very hot during the day over southeastern China in the latter part of this week to early next week, Hong Kong Observatory says

“A broad trough of low pressure will bring showers and thunderstorms to the coast of southern China and the northern part of the South China Sea [on Tuesday],” the forecaster said on Monday.
“The trough of low pressure is expected to weaken slightly in the following couple of days, but there will still be a few showers over the coastal areas.”
It said it expected the weather in Hong Kong to remain cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms on Tuesday.
“With an anticyclone aloft strengthening gradually, the weather will improve and it will be very hot during the day over southeastern China in the latter part of this week to early next week,” it said.
The mercury is expected to rise to as high as 34 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with a minimum temperature of 29 degrees, according to the Observatory’s nine-day forecast.
