Forecaster set to issue No 1 typhoon warning on Wednesday, as carriers urge passengers to check latest flight status before heading to airport

At least 15 flights between Hong Kong and Taiwan have been cancelled or delayed as Typhoon Podul moves towards the southern part of the self-ruled island.
Hong Kong International Airport provided the update on Tuesday night, with the Observatory expected to issue the No 1 typhoon warning on Wednesday.
An airport spokesman said nine passenger flights were cancelled between Hong Kong and Kaohsiung, and six between Hong Kong and Taipei on Wednesday.
A check of the airport’s website by the Post found that of the 11 flights scheduled from Hong Kong to Taiwan’s Kaohsiung on Wednesday, five were cancelled and four were delayed until the next day.
Only two Cathay Pacific Airways flights, CX432 at 8.35am and CX458 at 4.35pm, were still listed as being on time.
