Temperatures in Hong Kong are expected to drop to as low as 12 degrees Celsius (53.6 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday due to an incoming northeasterly monsoon, according to the local forecaster.

The Hong Kong Observatory said temperatures on Sunday ranged from 14 to 19 degrees, while a fresh surge of the northeasterly monsoon would reach the southern coast of mainland China on Monday.

“It will become cold over the region midweek this week. The weather will be persistently fine and very dry with [a] rather large temperature difference between day and night,” it said.

Strengthening northerly winds will bring a low of 13 degrees on Tuesday, with the cold, dry weather expected to then drop to 12 degrees over the following two days.
