Ikea issues global recall of pet water dispenser after two dogs suffocate
Customers who bought the Lurvig dispenser can return the item to any Ikea store or pickup point
Furniture giant Ikea on Wednesday recalled a HK$49.90 pet water dispenser as two dogs were reported to have suffocated by getting their heads stuck in the dome of the container.
The worldwide recall of the Lurvig water dispenser, on sale in 15 markets since last October, came after the company received reports of the two incidents.
“We are saddened by the events that resulted in two dogs suffocating. We know that pets are important and loved family members for many of our customers,” Petra Axdorff, business area manager at Ikea of Sweden, said in a statement.
“At Ikea, safety always comes first and that is why we have decided to recall the Lurvig water dispenser.”
Hong Kong customers can return the item to any of the four local Ikea stores or two merchandise pickup points for a full refund. A receipt is not required.
The company urged customers to call its customer hotline on 3125 0888 for further information.
