Hong Kong unemployment rate rises for sixth straight month in March amid pandemic

  • The unemployment rate hit a new high of 4.2 per cent in more than nine years as the coronavirus pandemic continued to ravage the city’s economy
  • The underemployment rate also increased to 2.1 per cent in March – the highest in nearly a decade – from 1.5 per cent in the preceding three-month period
