Hong Kong, Guangdong cities cooperating in Greater Bay Area development will produce mutual gains: John Lee
- Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee’s comments come after visit to Dongguan logistics park on third of four-day trip with delegation to Greater Bay Area
- Lee says Hong Kong’s position as global aviation hub will be further enhanced with cargo from bay area ‘seamlessly’ transported through the city via logistics park

Lee’s comments came as he wrapped up his visit to the cities of Dongguan and Foshan on the third of his four-day bay area tour with bureau chiefs and 83 lawmakers.

Lee said he believed Hong Kong’s position as a global aviation hub would be further enhanced with cargo from the bay area “seamlessly” transported through the city via the logistics park.
The park and the airside intermodal cargo pier at HKIA are designed under an Airport Authority Hong Kong sea-air transshipment initiative.
With the two facilities, processing of shipments from the bay area – such as security screenings and palletisations – can be completed in Dongguan, before goods are transported to Hong Kong airport for direct transshipment to overseas destinations. This saves Hong Kong customs from having to check the goods at the airport again.
