Online marketplace Carousell has been removing listings for marked up Coldplay concert tickets in Hong Kong, the company has said after scalpers were found selling them on the platform for up to three times above the original price.

“We take a serious view on the sale of prohibited items, which includes the reselling of recreational tickets above face value,” the platform said on Tuesday in response to the Post’s inquiries.

“We have been taking down such concert ticket listings and sweeping the platform for new listings.

“We understand that Hongkongers are excited about the coming concert, and we would like to urge the community to remain vigilant when buying tickets on the platform.”

A spokesman for the company also urged users to report listings with inflated ticket prices, adding that their team would review the reports within 24 hours.

The British rock band started ticket sales on Monday at 10am for certain fans who had previously signed up on Coldplay.com for its artist presale.

Packages, which include a hotel stay and a pair of concert tickets, offered on travel platform Klook also sold out within minutes when sales opened on Tuesday morning.
