Officers had been guarding the block’s entrances and studying CCTV footage to look for suspicious activity
A day after officers with shields scoured a Hong Kong public housing estate for a knife-wielding robber, police arrested a suspect at the premises on Thursday.
Dozens of officers, along with a search dog, swept Lai Tat House at On Tat Estate, Sau Mau Ping.
The suspect was arrested in the building during a search on Thursday afternoon. He was detained.
Officers had been guarding the block’s entrances and studying CCTV footage to look for suspicious activity. The force had believed the culprit was hiding in the building.
A 48-year-old woman reported the robbery at 12.08pm on Wednesday, a police spokesman said. The victim claimed she returned home after grocery shopping and was ambushed by the mugger with a knife as she left the lift at her floor.
