Hong Kong anti-triad police hunt six knife-wielding men after attack on mahjong club worker

Six knife-wielding men in balaclavas rushed into a Hong Kong mahjong club and attacked a 50-year-old employee in the early hours of Wednesday, sparking a citywide search for the assailants.
Anti-triad officers from the Sau Mau Ping police district were tasked with tracking down the group after they fled in two cars.
The attack took place on the ground floor of a building on Hang On Street in Kwun Tong shortly before 1.30am. The private club hosts mahjong rooms and a restaurant.
Police were investigating the motive.

The victim suffered knife wounds to the limbs and was taken to nearby United Christian Hospital.
Officers scouted the area around the club, but no arrests were made.
The case was classified by police as a “wounding”. According to official statistics, the force handled 509 reports of such incidents in the first six months of this year, up 10.4 per cent on the 461 cases in the same period last year.
