Body of woman discovered in water tank of Kowloon block of flats

The body of a woman was found in a water tank on the roof of an apartment block in Hong Kong on Monday.
Emergency personnel were called to the 55-year-old building at Mandarin Court on Argyle Street, Ho Man Tin at about 2pm when police received a call from a colleague of the woman.
“Initial investigation showed the man went to find her after she went missing and he feared she might have committed suicide,” a police source said.
He said the woman was found unconscious in the water tank on the roof of the 12-storey residential block and she was declared dead at the scene.
The roof of the building was cordoned off by police while crime squad officers carried out the investigation. Detectives were checking surveillance camera footage to gather evidence at the scene.

A colleague of the woman, who usually worked from 7am to 7pm, said she came to work at about 7am on Sunday and appeared to be normal until about 9am when she said she felt unwell and needed to go up to the roof of the building for a break.
When she had not returned by the afternoon, a colleague went up to the roof to search for her but could not find her. A search in the surrounding area failed to locate her and her husband was called, but he confirmed she had not returned home.
A review of the security camera footage showed the woman had not left the building, but further efforts to locate her were unsuccessful.

At about 2pm on Monday, her colleagues suggested taking a look at the water tank, where her body was found.
Investigators later found two suicide notes on her, in which she said had been bothered by a recent altercation with a resident of the building.
A police spokesman said the deceased had a history of mental illness.
