More than HK$200,000 stolen in two separate burglaries on Monday in Hong Kong
- In one case in Tsuen Wan, a bedroom was ransacked and jewellery stolen
About HK$200,000 (US$25,524) worth of jewellery was stolen from a bedroom at a house in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong on Monday.
The break-in came to light around 1.30pm, when police received a call from the female tenant of the Yau Lai Road house.
“Initial investigation showed a bedroom was ransacked and jewellery worth about HK$200,000 was stolen from a drawer,” a police spokesman said.
At about 2.30pm, officers from the Tsuen Wan criminal investigation unit were still gathering evidence at the scene.
Separately, police were searching for a masked man who was captured by surveillance cameras in a chain burglary in which about HK$20,000 was stolen from eight fish stalls at an indoor market in Fanling.

The theft was discovered shortly before 7am on Monday when owners and workers of the stalls arrived for work at the Luen Wo Hui Market on Wo Mun Street.
“Eight fish stalls were burgled and each stall lost sums ranging from tens of dollars to several thousand dollars,” a police spokeswoman said. Initial investigation showed that under HK$20,000 in total was stolen, she added.

CCTV footage showed the theft happened soon after 1am on Monday and the suspect, wearing a face mask and boots, was captured while searching for valuables in the stalls.
In Tuen Mun, HK$300,000 in cash and valuables were reported stolen from an industrial unit in Shek Pai Tau Road at about 11.16pm on Sunday. Police said another unit in the same building was ransacked but no valuables were stolen.
