A 32-year-old man in Hong Kong suspected of punching and throwing his dog in his luxury flat in Ho Man Tin was arrested in the early hours of Saturday.
The four-month old male Bernese mountain dog was vomiting and appeared sluggish when found, according to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
A police spokeswoman said a passer-by saw the suspect, surnamed Chui, hitting his dog in the third-floor flat at One Homantin on Sheung Foo Street shortly after 4am. The interior of the home can be seen from the street through glass panels.
“Police officers arrived at the scene and suspected Chui had been physically abusing the dog. We therefore arrested him for cruelty to an animal and contacted the SPCA to take the dog for treatment,” she said.
The Post was told that Chui had been annoyed with the dog’s barking all night and that it had defecated around the house.

An SPCA spokeswoman said the dog, which had black, white and brown fur, had a pet microchip and appeared very weak when found.
