A Hong Kong man who showed no remorse for sexually assaulting his daughter six times starting when she was in primary school was jailed for nine years and three months on Monday.

The High Court heard the abuse first came to light in 2014 when the girl recounted it to her mother while her father, identified only as L.S.L. in court, was serving a 10-month jail sentence for indecently assaulting his mentally disabled daughter-in-law.

The girl said her father, 63, would assault her without a condom while they were sharing a bed with her younger brother. To prevent these attacks, the girl tried sleeping on the sofa, but to no avail. So she returned to the bed, with her brother separating her from her father, only to wake up in the middle of the night to find her father carrying her brother to the sofa, before he assaulted her.

“Think of it as Papa’s fault,” the man had said when his wife asked him to apologise.

It was not until three years later that the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, finally had the courage to make a police report, after speaking to a teacher.

Asked why he had sexually assaulted his own child, L.S.L. told police: “It’s like eating. Eh, it tastes good. Would you only eat it once?”
