Woman arrested for attack on sleeping older sister in Hong Kong
- The 66-year-old victim suffered eye injuries in the assault at their Causeway Bay flat.
A woman was arrested for attacking her older sister as she slept at home in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
The 66-year-old victim suffered eye injuries in the assault, at Kanfield Mansion on Sun Chun Street, Causeway Bay.
The incident took place in their flat at about 3.45am. The neighbours called police after hearing the victim’s screams for help.
The woman was asleep in the living room when the incident happened.
A police source said no weapon was used in the incident.
He said an initial investigation showed the 59-year-old assailant attacked her older sister’s eyes with her fingers.
The attack had ended by the time a third sister, aged 64, who was woken by the victim’s screams, ran out of her bedroom to intervene.
“The victim was wounded in both eyes, one of which was seriously injured,” the source said.
Paramedics bandaged the victim’s wounds at the scene before taking her to Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai.
She was later transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan, where she was in a stable condition.
Police said the younger sister, who was mentally disabled, was unhurt in the incident. She was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital for a check-up.
