Porsche driver leads Hong Kong police on car chase, ramming vehicle into two others

A Porsche driver led police on a chase in Hong Kong and crashed his car into two other vehicles in the early hours of Sunday.

Officers had ordered the motorist to stop after noticing the car was making loud noises, apparently from the exhaust pipe, while they were patrolling Kau Yuk Road in Yuen Long.

The driver refused to pull over, according to a police spokesman, triggering a 3km chase.

A 25-year-old man, with the surname Lee, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

During the pursuit, the Porsche rammed into a taxi and then drove off.

The driver left the vehicle as the car was still moving, and it later crashed into another car parked on the road.

The motorist, who failed a breathalyser test, suffered injuries to his hands and legs.

The taxi driver, 47 years old and surnamed Hui, sustained head injuries.

Initial investigation found that the man’s vehicle licence did not match that on the car plate.

Police said they suspected he took the vehicle, but did not elaborate.

An online media report said the man was in the car-trading business.

Officers arrested him on Kik Yeung Road, near Yeung Long Plaza, on suspicion of furious driving, drink-driving, using a false instrument, and taking conveyance without authority.
