Amina Bokhary, niece of top Hong Kong judge, charged with cocaine possession

A woman with a renowned family name whose legal problems have earned her citywide notoriety was charged on Wednesday with drug possession.
Bokhary was charged in Eastern Court with one count of possession of a dangerous drug. She was not required to make a plea.
Principal Magistrate Bina Chainrai said she would recuse herself from the case and pass it to a colleague. She did not give a reason.
The case was adjourned to October 4 and Bokhary was released on a cash bail of HK$500 (US$64).
Bokhary’s father is Syed Bagh Ali Shah Bokhary, a member of the stock exchange council from 1995 to 2000.
Her mother is Rhoda Bokhary-Arculli, the elder sister of Ronald Arculli, a former convenor of the non-official members of the Executive Council, the government’s top advisory body.
