Marine police and firefighters rescued seven crew members and were still searching for one person on Saturday night after a fishing boat sank in waters off Hong Kong’s Lantau Island. The operation was launched in Sha Lo Wan in Tung Chung after the owner of the boat reported the incident at 6.18pm. A police spokeswoman said seven people were rescued, with no injuries reported. “The group claimed there could be other missing persons. Marine police and personnel from the Fire Services Department are conducting searches,” she said. At 10pm she clarified that one person was missing. According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the visibility level at 6pm in Chek Lap Kok was 10km, with easterly light winds in the region.
