Hong Kong MTR worker stabbed in neck with syringe during ticket check

A Hong Kong MTR worker was stabbed in the neck with a syringe on Saturday when checking the ticket of a suspected fare dodger.
The rail operator said members of staff at Kwai Fong station were talking to a person they believed had used the wrong ticket to pass through a gate at about 5.15pm.
A statement from the MTR Corporation said: “When they were handling the incident, one of the colleagues was stabbed by a syringe to the back of his neck by another person.
MTR unions appeal to Hong Kong government for extra police protection
“That person jumped over the turnstile and fled the station … The company condemns the attack on our colleague.”
Police said the injured worker was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung and classified the case as assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Radical protesters trashed railway stations and set facilities on fire, while hurling petrol bombs at entrances, spray-painting graffiti on walls, and throwing objects onto the tracks.
