A motorcyclist died in hospital early Thursday morning after colliding with a truck near a container terminal in Hong Kong.

Police arrested the truck driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death after the accident at a roundabout on Container Port Road South in Kwai Chung shortly before 11.30pm on Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said the 33-year-old truck driver was released on bail pending further investigation. He is required to report back to police next month. Officers from the New Territories South traffic unit are investigating the cause of the accident.

Separately, a male pedestrian was knocked unconscious by a taxi on Hennessy Road near the junction of Tin Lok Lane in Wan Chai around 10am on Thursday. The injured man, 60, was sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment. Police said the taxi driver, 55, passed a breathalyser test.
