The driver of a KMB double-decker bus was arrested for dangerous driving after his vehicle knocked down a passer-by, crashed through a roadworks site and mounted a pavement in Hong Kong on Thursday.
The double-decker, driven by a 63-year-old man, was leaving a bus terminal on San Ma Tau Street near Kowloon City Ferry Pier shortly before 7am when the accident happened.
“It is suspected the vehicle experienced a mechanical fault and failed to stop in time before it knocked down a passer-by,” police said in a statement.
After hitting a 49-year-old man, the bus crashed through a roadworks site fenced with barriers and came to a stop after mounting a pavement.
According to the force, the passer-by suffered leg and pelvis injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment.

Police arrested the bus driver, who was uninjured, on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. He was released on bail pending further investigation.
