A 60-year-old man who had difficulty walking died in hospital after firefighters on Tuesday broke into a blazing public housing flat in Hong Kong and found him unconscious.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to Tsui Ping (North) Estate off Tsui Ping Road in Kwun Tong at 2.10pm when a security guard noticed dense smoke coming out from the 20th-floor flat of Tsui Lau House.

The security guard knocked on the door but no one answered, so he called police.
