Woman, 61, dies after being hit by Hong Kong minibus

An elderly woman died in hospital on Monday after being hit by a minibus in Hong Kong.

Emergency personnel were called to Hong Ning Road near the junction with Shung Yan Street in Kwun Tong where the accident happened shortly before 10am.

According to police, the 61-year-old victim was trying to cross Hong Ning Road when she was hit by a green minibus bound for Sau Mau Ping.

“The woman suffered head injuries and was in an unconscious state while being carried into an ambulance,” a police spokesman said.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei and declared dead at 11.21am.
