An elderly woman died in hospital on Monday after being hit by a minibus in Hong Kong.
Emergency personnel were called to Hong Ning Road near the junction with Shung Yan Street in Kwun Tong where the accident happened shortly before 10am.
According to police, the 61-year-old victim was trying to cross Hong Ning Road when she was hit by a green minibus bound for Sau Mau Ping.
“The woman suffered head injuries and was in an unconscious state while being carried into an ambulance,” a police spokesman said.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei and declared dead at 11.21am.
Officers arrested the 72-year-old minibus driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. As of Monday afternoon, he was still being held for questioning and had not been charged.
Officers from the Kowloon East traffic unit are handling the case. Witnesses or anyone with information can contact the force at 3661 0260.
This year’s most serious traffic accident in the city occurred on August 22 when a taxi ploughed into pedestrians at a busy crossing on Kwong Fuk Road in Tai Po. Two people died and seven others were injured in the crash.

Videos showed unconscious victims lying on the ground alongside a smashed traffic light and metal fencing ripped from the pedestrian island.
About 20 passers-by rushed to the taxi in the aftermath of the crash, working together to lift the vehicle and free at least two victims trapped underneath.
The 63-year-old taxi driver was charged on August 24 with dangerous driving causing death.
In the first seven months of this year, 50 people died and 1,068 suffered serious injuries in 1,080 road accidents across the city. In the whole of last year, 97 people died in 96 fatal traffic accidents.
