Hong Kong police arrest 1 man, hunt 3 more after high-speed car chase through New Territories

Hong Kong police have launched a citywide manhunt for three men who leapt from a BMW and escaped on foot following a high-speed 3km chase in the New Territories in the early hours of Tuesday.
Officers managed to arrest a fourth man, 26, after the vehicle was intercepted following a chase that stretched from Yuen Long to Tin Shui Wai. The driver and two other passengers remain at large.
Four knives were hurled from the moving vehicle during the chase, according to a police spokesman, who added the car also struck a motorcycle stopped at a red light. The rider, 32, was uninjured.
The chase began at about 1am on Yuen Long Highway near the junction with Kong Sham Western Highway, with the cars heading in the direction of Sheung Shui.
Officers gave chase when a police vehicle equipped with number plate recognition technology detected the licence of the black BMW had expired and the man behind the wheel ignored orders to pull over.
The four knives were thrown from the vehicle as it reached Hung Tin Road in Tin Shui Wai, according to police.
The chase ended when officers intercepted the car on an unidentified road near Hung Uk Tsuen.
Police said the driver and his three passengers then jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect who was caught was arrested over possession of an offensive weapon.
Separately, a man died when his motorbike collided with a cement mixer on the Kwai Chung Road flyover outside Mei Foo Sun Chuen, a private housing estate in Lai Chi Kok, shortly before 2.30pm on Tuesday.
According to police, the man was certified dead at the scene. His motorcycle was lodged in a space between two wheels on the right side of the truck. Detectives from the Kowloon West traffic unit are handling the case.
