A Hong Kong police sergeant has been suspended from duty after being arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession and driving under the influence of an illegal drug.
The arrest of the 46-year-old man came on Wednesday afternoon when narcotics bureau officers intercepted a car he was driving along Kam Sheung Road in Pat Heung.
“Officers seized 1.9 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of about HK$3,500 (US$449),” police said in a statement on Thursday.

The force confirmed the suspect was an off-duty officer.
The sergeant, attached to the New Territories North regional headquarters, was suspended from duty following the arrest, according to a police source.
