Two former Cathay Pacific flight attendants were granted bail on Wednesday after they were charged with flouting medical surveillance rules late last year around the start of Hong Kong’s ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
Wong Yoon-loong, 45, and Nilsson Lau Kok-wang, 44, made their first appearance at Eastern Court on Wednesday, but prosecutors have yet to require them to enter a plea.
Wong, a Malaysian national, was charged with one count of failing to observe the conditions specified by health officials as a person subject to medical surveillance. Lau, a Hongkonger, faced two counts of the same charge.

Wong is accused of breaching a home isolation requirement on December 25, a day after he was given the order to observe it.
Lau is also accused of breaching the order on Christmas Day, as well as on December 27, though the allegations against the pair do not lay out specific details.
They face a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a fine of up to HK$5,000 (US641) if convicted.
Both defendants appeared calm in court on Wednesday, and replied “understood” when the charges were read out.
