4 Hong Kong marine police officers under investigation for allegedly fishing while on duty

At least four Hong Kong marine police officers are facing an internal investigation for allegedly going fishing while on duty, sources have told the Post.
The four officers, including a sergeant, were on an overnight shift on a barge operation platform moored at the mouth of Tolo Channel near Grass Island. The group was allegedly discovered fishing during a surprise check by an inspector earlier this month.
“The inspector found them behaving suspiciously and some fishing equipment was also found near them,” a force insider said on Tuesday.
The source said the barge’s closed-circuit television system was turned off at the time of the incident, with an initial investigation suggesting that several other recordings from earlier this year were also missing.

The Post has learned that the four officers from the marine police north division have all been transferred to other positions, with none currently suspended from duty.
