Cereal criminal snared by Hong Kong customs officers after sting using HK$1.9 million of cannabis buds disguised as snacks and breakfast foods
- Cannabis buds weighing 10kg found disguised as snacks and breakfast cereals airmailed from Thailand
- Security guard, 64, arrested in connection with the haul, which arrived at airport on Monday and Tuesday

Hong Kong customs officials have seized a near HK$2 million (US$255,352) haul of cannabis buds found in eight parcels from Thailand disguised as snacks and breakfast cereals.
Customs said on Thursday officers from its drug investigation bureau had posed as delivery workers and took the parcels, which contained 10kg (22lbs) of cannabis buds, to an address in Kwun Tong the day before, where a city man, 64, was arrested.
A source familiar with the case said the man, a security guard, was the individual the parcels were addressed to.
The drugs arrived in the city by airmail from Bangkok on Monday and Tuesday.

“Upon inspection, customs officers found that each parcel also had suspected cannabis buds concealed inside,” the department said on Thursday.
“The dangerous drugs were packed in zip lock bags, which were put inside the packaging of breakfast cereals or snacks.”
